Leading Italian anti-mafia activists (who knew those existed?) are concerned about fan pages on Facebook dedicated to praise of Cosa Nostra’s most notorious and bloody bosses that have attracted hundreds of young admirers. Fan pages of  jailed mafia bosses as Bernardo Provenzano, arrested in 2006 after nearly four decades on the run, and Toto Riina, nabbed in 1993 after 24 years at large, have appeared on Italian pages Facebook.

I just realized how boring my own Facebook page is. I’m only linked up to fan pages for my favorite TV shows and comedians. I really need to step it up and get edgier with my Facebook page.   In the spirit of the mob, I guess I could join a Sopranos fan page.  Again, here I go with the television shows.

I like that young Italians are cheering the mafia bosses, even if that is a cliché.  I get why the mob bosses are fascinating.  Americans are certainly intrigued by organized crime, so this isn’t isolated to Italians.  I have spent more than one night on my couch watching mobster stories on The History Channel.  I have seen every episode of the Sopranos.  It only takes just that little bit of extra dedication to join a public Facebook fan page.  Besides, if Tony Soprano were a real guy living in New Jersey, he’d be treated as a God among men.
